The Author:

FIRST PLACE:
"Embracing Change", by Debbie Roome of New Zealand.

About Debbie Roome: "I was born and raised in Zimbabwe and later spent fifteen years in South Africa. In 2006 I moved to New Zealand with my husband and five children. Writing has been my passion since the age of six and I love to write stories that touch people's lives and turn them towards God. After fifteen years of owning a toy store, I am now working full time at my writing and have never been more fulfilled. My major writing achievements include the trophy for Runner up to the Writer of the Year, South Africa, 2004, placing second out of 8000 in the FaithWriters.com Best of the Best contest for 2007 and receiving the trophy from the South African Writers' Circle for the best self-published book of 2007. My writing has also opened doors for public speaking and I’m often asked to share my life story and experiences as a writer."

About "Embracing Change": When Sarah Johnson's fiancé is killed by a hijacker in South Africa, Sarah carries out his wish to continue with their plan and moves to New Zealand, taking his ashes to scatter there. In her grief she hasn't counted on her gradual healing coming from two unexpected sources: Jesus Christ, and His new plan for her - Joel Baxter.

But will Joel's old flame, Mandy, succeed in destroying Sarah's fragile progress in both her spiritual and earthly paths? And will she ever break free of the oppressive power still held over her by the hijacker who murdered her fiancé and attacked her, too? — It takes a journey halfway back across the world for Sarah to face her demons, and finally forgive.
