COMMENTS:

Note: After several requests, I need to add here that I cannot give individual breakdowns of the non-winning entries, as this takes a good deal of time (sorry!). I am willing to do a detailed critique of your manuscripts, at a flat rate of £75.00. If you would like a critique, please contact me.

We received a surprisingly large ratio of entries which were completely the wrong genre, sadly. We are hoping that the next competition brings forth many more entries, and all of them in the correct genre - Christian Inspirational Romance - see Christianbook.com Home . Some of the wrong-genre entries were written before Christ was born; others were after Christ's birth but had no Christian content; others had no romance storyline at all.

But the top three winners are all by writers who fully understand the genre, and in the end the winning entry tipped the scales because of its very strong inspirational and emotional storyline as well as excellent standard of writing, and a well thought out plot with all the threads tied up. Well done, Debbie! – Debbie was also the winner last year of our Writers' Challenge short story competition, and has won other story competitions too, but this is her first Novel competition win. She is clearly a very strong writer.

Another interesting fact: Both the first and second place stories were set in, or partly in, Africa. The setting didn't influence the placings, as judging was done purely on the strength of writing, characters, dialogue, plotline, etc - but it's interesting, nonetheless! And the third place went to a story with an equally exotic base - the South Pacific. The interesting locations definitely made for heightened interest for the reader.

Our next competition opens for entries IS NOW OPEN. Follow us on Twitter or Follow our Blog to get updates, or watch this web site!
